About Me

I cannot tell you how many times I have been told, “You can’t plan a pregnancy – they just happen.” Most recently, a woman sitting next to me on a transatlantic flight told me this. Now, granted, this was followed by the gem that if I have trouble conceiving, I should drink a bottle of Geritol because “there’s a baby in every bottle.” But still, this was the last straw for me. This site is in response to all of the anti-planners out there. Specifically you, Geritol lady.

This site is also to help all of the planners out there. When my husband an I decided we would have a baby next year, I looked for information about pregnancy planning. I found very little and what I did find was addressed to women that were within months of conceiving, not planning on conceiving in a year. It seemed odd to me that preparing for pregnancy would take only a few months. People train for longer than that for marathons. Thus, this site was born (pun intended).

This site is my plan for preparing for pregnancy if you are about a year away from trying to conceive. I have given my opinions, but I also have tried to provide as many resources as possible so that you don’t have to just take my word for it.

Now that you know why I am writing this blog, you probably still have some questions. Who is this woman? Why does she think she knows how to plan a pregnancy? Does she like long walks on the beach? (Well, maybe not that last one.)

First things first, I am Holly and I am in my early 20s. I have been married for two years. I am currently a law student, but I am set to graduate from law school in May 2012.  I am planning my first pregnancy and I hope to conceive in late 2012.

Now that I have probably convinced you that I know nothing about planning a pregnancy, let me agree with you – I don’t know anything about planning a pregnancy. That is one reason I started this blog – to keep track of my ideas about planning my pregnancy and to share them with others. What I do know a lot about, though, is planning and research. I am going to put those two skills to use to create a plan for the perfect pregnancy (which, yes, I am fairly certain is mythical – but you can’t blame a girl for trying!).

One Response to “About Me”

I would like to add a small edit to this post.. I believe the line that says “I have been married for two years” should be edited to:

“I have been married for two enchanted years, to the man of my dreams (nay – to the many of any woman’s dreams). My husband is a full time romance novel cover model (you may know his work from such titles as “The Dark Stallion” , “The Sixth Seduction” and “Ravishing Reverie, Part Three”) . When not shooting on location on wind swept cliff sides he stays home to welcome me into his loving, and deceptively Herculean, arms. It is then, and only then, that I tear myself away from the untamed beating of his heart, locked within a chest that no white buttoned shirt can fully imprison. I gather my thoughts, pace my breathing and begin to write this blog.”
